Construction company violates multiple safety laws

Lack of hazardous materials survey, air sampling among violations

Jasson Chada has been fined $15,500 by WorkSafeBC.

WorkSafeBC inspected this firm's building demolition work site in Surrey, B.C. after workers had completed the demolition work.

The firm had not completed a hazardous materials survey, did not have air sampling results or clearance documents, and did not know how the demolition waste had been handled and disposed of.

The firm failed to ensure that hazardous materials were safely contained or removed prior to demolition work taking place.

This was a high-risk violation.
