Ergonomics Month being held this month
WorkSafeBC requires that employers submit a Notice of Project (NOP) for residential construction projects over $100,000 (as well as other criteria), and will be increasing their outreach to employers from October to December 2020.
An NOP must be submitted on worksafebc.com and posted at the worksite at least 24 hours before work begins.
“Submitting an NOP helps keep construction projects safe for workers and provides our prevention team with key information about the project, including the key people responsible for health and safety on the worksite, relevant contact information, and details about the scope of work,” said WorkSafeBC.
WorkSafeBC is also giving employers access to educational opportunities to help implement ergonomics in the workplace, in time for Ergonomics Month, celebrated in October.
“October is Ergonomics Month, a global initiative that focuses on increasing awareness and promoting the science and application of ergonomics and human factors. It’s a time to explore and expand initiatives to enhance the work environment and improve the fit between people and their jobs for better efficiency, comfort, productivity, health, and safety,” said WorkSafeBC.

Previously, WorkSafeBC issued a reminder to employers that the deferral period for Q1 and Q2 assessment premiums will end today, Oct. 20, 2020.
