Security guard stabbed in Regina store by woman alleged to have shoplifted

REGINA (CP) — A loss prevention officer — a security guard who watches for shoplifters — was taken to hospital on the weekend with non-life threatening injuries after being stabbed by an alleged shoplifter.
Regina police said the 25-year-old security guard observed a woman trying on a jacket in a store and then allegedly leaving without paying.

The guard approached the woman and tried to arrest her but was stabbed in the process.

The security guard was still able to handcuff the woman and recover a bag of stolen merchandise.

Janelle Sangwais, 31, appeared in court on Monday to face charges of shoplifting and assault with a weapon.
