Health and safety pros take over New Orleans

Anticipation is building for the upcoming National Safety Council Congress and Expo, beginning Monday in the vibrant city of New Orleans. The event is poised to be a significant gathering for health and safety professionals from North America and around the world.

The NSC Congress and Expo, recognized as one of the world's largest safety events, offers a plethora of opportunities for attendees to enhance their careers and network with professionals in the safety and health industry.

"Anybody who attends is going to get an experience to further their own safety career, help their organizations grow, and ultimately make them safer," says Tom Bell, chief marketing officer at the NSC.

Bell highlighted participants can earn Continuing Education Units (CEUs) to bolster their expertise and take part in over 100 technical and educational sessions, along with 20+ professional development seminars.

One of the key attractions of the event is the occupational keynote, which delves into understanding and responding to rapidly growing threats in the workplace, a critical concern for safety and health professionals.

“This year's theme is 'Let's Make People Safer.' Whether it's at work, on the road, through education and training, or by leveraging technology and data, we are all coming together to make people safer,” says Bell.

The choice of New Orleans as the host city for this year's event was explained by Bell, who stated, "We rotate our destination each year, partly because of the logistics of being able to host an event for about 10,000 professionals from around the world. Logistically, we need to find locations that are big enough."

The NSC Congress and Expo aims to provide attendees with valuable takeaways. Bell hopes that participants will leave with a sense of personal and professional growth.

"Whether it's advancing their own professional development, learning something new, or contributing to discussions on diversity, equity, and inclusion, we want attendees to leave with the tools and insights to drive a strong safety culture within their organizations.”

More than 800 vendors will showcase the latest innovations in safety technology and equipment. Attendees can also witness various awards ceremonies, including a new award celebrating diversity within the safety community.

With excitement building, the NSC Congress and Expo promises to be an event of significant value for health and safety professionals, providing them with the knowledge and tools to continue making workplaces safer for everyone.

The NSC Congress and Expo runs from October 23 to October 25. Canadian Occupational Safety will be on the ground in New Orleans, bringing the event to you.
