Canada’s Safest Employers Awards boasts over 20 different categories to nominate for. From construction to utilities, transportation to manufacturing, all major industries in Canada are covered. And we also have individual awards too – including the new Minerva Award for Rising Star of the Year.

Nominations close on April 22; you can find out more about each category here.

For 12 years now, Canada’s Safest Employers Awards has been the leading independent awards program in the occupational health and safety profession. The awards recognize the outstanding health and safety professionals and companies for their achievements, leadership and innovation over the past 12 months.

These last two years have been incredibly difficult, especially for the OHS profession. Safety pros have been on the frontlines, toiling away to keep workers as safe as possible. We’re happy to shine a spotlight on those individuals and companies really making a difference.

“I truly appreciate this honour for a career of service meant to help others do the right thing,” says George Minow, Manager of Health, Safety and Wellness, Kitchener-Wilmot Hydro. Minow was the 2021 winner of our Safety Leader of the Year Award.

Shannon Caron, Director of Safety, Environment and Transportation at Michels Canada, also echoes this sentiment. Michels was the winner of the 2021 WSIB Award for Canada’s Best Health and Safety Culture.

“I’m so grateful!,” says Caron. “I also think we are very deserving, and it makes me feel so thankful for the support I have from my company and all the individuals in our company that helped us get here.”
