Truck driver charged for death of couple in 2024

A Nova Scotia truck driver has been charged in connection with a fatal collision in Nova Scotia last year, according to a report.

Victoria District Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) arrested Matthew Seymour Creelman of Lower Truro last Thursday. He has been charged with two counts of dangerous operation of a conveyance causing death, reported The Canadian Press (CP).

The 36-year-old man was driving a Western Star tractor trailer when he collided with a Hyundai Tucson near the 8000 block of Highway 105 in Baddeck Inlet, N.S., around 6:10 p.m. on Oct. 7, 2024, according to CP.

Both vehicles landed in a ditch, according to the report.

The Tucson had a 45-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman from British Columbia on board. They both died in the incident.

Meanwhile, the truck driver was left unharmed.

Creelman was released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in Wagmatcook provincial court on June 4, according to the CP report posted in CTV News.
