Food delivery worker seriously injured in hit-and-run

A 43-year-old food delivery worker from Collingwood is in hospital with serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle that fled the scene while he was crossing a roadway to complete an order in The Blue Mountains, Ont., according to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

The Collingwood Detachment of the OPP said officers were called to Grey Road 19 on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026, at approximately 8:30 p.m. for a report that a vehicle had hit a pedestrian and failed to remain at the scene.

In a news release, police said preliminary findings indicate “the pedestrian, a food delivery driver, was crossing the road to fulfil an order when he was struck by a vehicle.” The man was airlifted to a local trauma centre with serious injuries, the OPP said.

Grey Road 19 was closed between Craigleith Road and Birches Boulevard to allow collision specialists and other officers to conduct an on-scene investigation. The route is used by local residents, visitors and workers accessing nearby commercial and recreational areas.

The investigation is ongoing, and no charges had been announced at the time of publication.

Appeal for driver and witnesses

The OPP has issued a public appeal for the driver involved in the incident to contact investigators. “Collingwood OPP is appealing to the driver who fled the scene to come forward and contact the detachment,” police said.

Officers are also seeking assistance from anyone who may have been in the area at the time. “Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage from the area at the time of the incident is asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122,” the service said.
