Manitoba man arrested after breaking the plexiglass barriers at Burger King

A man in Manitoba was arrested Monday evening after allegedly damaging property and attempting to confront employees at a Burger King restaurant in Winnipeg.

The incident occurred at a Burger King on the 200 block of Osborne Street. According to the Winnipeg Police Service, the 26-year-old suspect approached the restaurant counter “aggressively” and demanded food, CTV News reported.

Police allege he then pulled down the plexiglass barriers, causing them to shatter.

Restaurant staff retreated to a back office for safety and contacted police. The suspect allegedly tried to gain access to the office while employees remained inside.

When officers arrived, they found the restaurant in a state of “disarray,” CTV News reported.

Police allege the man was behaving erratically, prompting the use of a conductive energy weapon during the arrest. He was taken into custody and found to be in possession of bear spray, a pellet gun, and approximately 16 grams of cocaine.

Paramedics assessed and medically cleared the suspect at the scene.

The man faces several charges, including mischief under $5,000/obstruct enjoyment and two counts of possession of a weapon, according to CTV News.
