A 'few' crem members caught by rebar in incident

A “few” crew members got caught as concrete collapsed at a construction site in British Columbia, according to a report.
The collapse of the roof of the north parkade structure at the City Gardens development in Kamloops happened on Wednesday, according to the Kelson Group.
The incident happened while workers were pouring new concrete.
The collapse caused some minor damage to the structure.
“Our structural engineering team will be assessing this area in the days to come to determine the work required to repair the area,” said the employer.
“Most importantly, due to construction crews following safety protocols and processes, we are pleased to report that all construction personnel are safe and were moved away from the area immediately.”
The concrete gave way and the rebar caught the workers, said Jason Fawcett, president of the Kelson Group, in a Radio NL report.
“A couple of them had to climb up a little bit as the rebar sort of bent down. We’re just thankful that everybody’s ok.”
WorkSafeBC personnel also visited the site for inspection, according to the report.
“I would like to thank our on-site team of safety representatives and superintendents for their diligence in building out and implementing good safety practices, so that when an event occurs like it did, we can react quickly to ensure the safety of those on-site,” said Fawcett.
