Company says pendants can reduce structural stress and extend component life in large mining equipment
WireCo has reported that its UNION Gladiator synthetic pendants can reduce structural stress and extend component life in large mining equipment such as draglines and electric rope shovels. The company says the pendants act as damping elements in the load path, cutting harmonic energy by 13% and sideloading stress by about 29%, resulting in an average 14% increase in component life. WireCo adds that lower vibration levels may also improve operator comfort and support workplace safety efforts. Although synthetic pendants cost more upfront than steel, they are designed to last for the life of the machine.
