WSIB and CRA launch new online service for Ontario businesses

The Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) has partnered with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) to introduce a new option for Ontario businesses to conveniently report their insurable earnings and make WSIB premium payments online through their CRA My Business Account. This collaborative effort aims to streamline the process of managing accounts for businesses and provide a user-friendly experience for taxpayers.

With this new service, businesses can pay their WSIB premiums while filing their business taxes, offering them a simple and efficient way to handle their financial obligations.

Jeffery Lang, President and CEO of the WSIB, emphasized the importance of enhancing business interactions, saying, "we’re always looking for ways to make it easier for people to do business with us. This new service with the CRA is a convenient option for business owners to take care of their WSIB account and file their business taxes in one user-friendly spot. It’s another example of how we’re making it easier than ever for businesses to manage their account online."

In addition to the CRA My Business Account, businesses can continue to report and pay their premiums using online banking or the WSIB's online services. These platforms also offer features such as accessing statements and claim information, obtaining clearances, reporting injuries or illnesses, and analyzing rates. The WSIB is committed to expanding its digital services, empowering businesses to efficiently handle their accounts online.

The collaborative effort between the WSIB and CRA stems from the government's commitment to improving services for businesses and injured workers.

Monte McNaughton, Minister of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development, highlighted the positive changes taking place at the WSIB.

"After introducing new leadership, our government has given the WSIB a clear mandate to improve services for the businesses and injured workers that rely on them. From returning over a billion dollars to safe employers to raising compensation for injured workers, today’s announcement is another example of the positive change taking place at the WSIB," says McNaughton.

Initial feedback from businesses testing the new service has been encouraging, with positive responses regarding the convenience of managing tax payments and WSIB premiums in one place.

"The Government of Canada is committed to helping businesses. I am pleased about this new partnership with WSIB Ontario which gives businesses a new option to use our quick, convenient, and secure e-services to pay their premiums," says Diane Lebouthillier, Minister of National Revenue.

To take advantage of this new service, Ontario businesses can sign in or register for a CRA My Business Account or visit the WSIB's website for more information.
