Best safety suppliers in Canada recognized in featured report
In a resounding show of industry recognition, hundreds of readers of the Canadian Occupational Safety (COS) magazine have cast their votes to determine the recipients of the prestigious 2023 COS Readers' Choice awards. Ratings poured in for Canadian safety suppliers across various categories such as consulting, training, and technology, marking a pivotal moment in acknowledging excellence within the safety sector.
Industry expert, Dave Rebbitt, the founder of Rarebit Consulting, emphasizes the pivotal role of organizational structure in achieving success. "Poor governance can directly affect the safety of the workplace. Without accountability, there is no internal responsibility system, which is the bedrock of Canadian OHS legislation."
YOW Canada is one of the award recipients. Based in Ottawa, it provides courses and materials to help Canadians with occupational health and safety compliance.
Another notable triumph was achieved by Canadian Safety Group (CSG), led by the accomplished Sarah Wilson, who wears several hats as the president and CEO.
Reflecting on CSG's accomplishments, Wilson attributes their prowess to pushing boundaries while maintaining a steadfast realism in their services. "We've been 200 kilometers south of the North Pole and as far south as Bermuda – you go where you need to be," she states. "Some of the most challenging [trips] have been on the steam liners, trying to do training at 2 a.m. with the boats rocking."
Worksite Safety Compliance Centre, under the leadership of Kate Lashbrook, director of client cervices, has carved its own niche in the industry by harnessing its extensive resources.
Lashbrook underscores the importance of tailored learning, saying, "there's not one size that fits all when it comes to how people learn and retain information. We have courses available in French and English, and our e-learning has been a focus as we expand into the Quebec market."
