New program is ‘a charitable giving initiative designed to support Nova Scotia-based non-profits, charities, and community organizations'
Safety Services Nova Scotia has launched a new community grant aimed at supporting local organisations that advance safety, wellbeing, education and social inclusion across the province.
The not-for-profit safety organisation said its Road to Impact programme will distribute a total of $25,000 to Nova Scotia-based non-profits, charities and community groups over a 10‑month period in 2026.
“At Safety Services Nova Scotia (SSNS), safety isn't just our mission, it's our way of life,” the organisation said in announcing the programme. As a not-for-profit, SSNS stated it is “committed to fostering safer, healthier, and more inclusive communities across the province.”
Threads of Life
SSNS has selected Threads of Life – Association for Workplace Tragedy Family Support as the first recipient under Road to Impact.
“As a national non-profit charity, Threads of Life supports workers and families affected by work-related fatalities, serious injuries, or occupational diseases,” Safety Services Nova Scotia said. The organisation noted that “these tragedies have a profound impact on families,” and that Threads of Life provides “peer support, information, and opportunities to share experiences to prevent future workplace incidents.”
The Road to Impact grant will support Threads of Life’s annual Steps for Life walk in Halifax on 2 May. SSNS said that, with its “aligned missions,” it is “proud that our Road to Impact grant will support their annual Steps for Life walk in Halifax on May 2nd.” The funding “helps to ensure services remain free for those who need them,” Safety Services Nova Scotia added.
