The event will feature the highly anticipated winner announcements and will be hosted by Brodie Lawson, TSN contributor and former CFL Host. There will be a number of panels where experts will discuss the biggest issues in the safety industry. By popular demand, COS is also bringing back live virtual panels featuring some of the excellence awardees, who will be sharing their inspiring insights, best practices and success stories.

One of the panels is titled Talent Retention and the Influence of a Strong Safety Culture on Engagement, set to start at 1:30 pm ET. Ryan Sloan, health and safety manager, Birchcliff Energy will take part in that debate.

“We've been nominees and Excellence Award winners in various different categories for several years now. And we really wanted to keep giving back,” he said.

In the panel discussion, event participants will hear how organizations and safety professionals are navigating talent management and retention and investing to build a strong culture of safety.

“I think it's really important to recognize people across the country for what they're doing, and then learn and leverage off of that,” said Sloan. “At the end of the day, everybody wants to go home safe and not get hurt. They want to make sure that they have that feeling and comfort level, that knowledge that somebody's going to take care of them and do the right thing, and then do what's necessary to protect the culture.

“It's just how they do the business. It's not [about] the rules and policies and procedures; The way they do the businesses is key. So, understanding that that culture needs to be in place, that sense of belonging within that culture, is very important.”

Other panel discussion include:

  • An In-Depth Look at Canada’s Safety Industry, at 11:10 am (all ET)
  • Integrating a Radical Safety Culture from the Top Down, at 12:20 pm
  • Adaptability and other Traits that are Imperative to Career Growth, at 12:55 pm
  • New Perspective: A Panel of Rising Stars, at 2:05 pm
  • The Health and Safety Risks of Tomorrow, at 2:40 pm
  • The awards presentation will then start at 3:15 pm.

This is an unparalleled opportunity to go behind the scenes and engage with the industry’s best.
