The COS team will be bringing together some of Canada’s top legal minds to share their expertise on hot button topics in the OHS sector. With more organizations than ever before attuned to the importance of worker health and safety, advice from safety experts is highly sought after.

From hardened safety pros to those just starting out, this Masterclass is a must!

New trends

This has been a difficult year for many industries. For safety pros in particular, legal experts included, the pandemic has dominated preoccupations.

Developments in the OHS sector have accelerated in some areas, while drastically slowing down in others.

Due to courts being shut down, there wasn’t so much activity for certain lawyers – certainly with regards to prosecutions. Now that restrictions have loosened, we are seeing activity again and trends may accelerate. The pandemic will also be sure to have a lasting impact on the OHS legal sphere.

But even before the pandemic, the legal landscape was evolving – for example:

“We’ve seen the continued criminalization of workplace health and safety for a while now,” says David Reiter, a litigation lawyer with Aird & Berlis and a member of the firm’s Occupational Health & Safety Group.

Join in the Masterclass to learn about the OHS legal landscape as well as learning about workplace compensation, incident reporting, WHMIS, safety management systems, substance impairment and employee rights.
