ISN partners with Safety Function

ISN, a global leader in contractor and supplier information management, has announced a partnership with Safety Function to provide energy-based safety training to its contractor customers. The collaboration aims to enhance hazard recognition and reduce serious injuries and fatalities (SIFs) in the workplace.

Through this partnership, ISN contractor customers gain exclusive, unlimited access to 10 Safety Function training courses within the ISNetworld® Learning Management System (LMS) platform at no additional fee. These courses include modules on the Energy Wheel,

Marie Anderson, chief customer success officer and head of review and verification services (RAVS®) at ISN, stated, “We continue to see Hiring Clients and contractors actively working to implement processes and trainings such as the Energy Wheel and HECA to help reduce the likelihood of a serious injury or fatality (SIF).” She added, “This partnership enhances our commitment to providing contractors with industry-leading training and resources to uphold the highest standards for worker safety.”

Matthew Hallowell, CEO of Safety Function, emphasized the importance of hazard recognition, noting, “Although hazard recognition is foundational to nearly every safety activity, research shows more than half of all serious hazards are overlooked during work planning.” He explained that Safety Function’s curriculum equips crews with the skills to identify hazards more completely, prioritize hazards with SIF potential, and mitigate them with direct controls.

Anthony Knaapen II, director of enterprise contractor safety at PG&E, praised the initiative, stating, “Training the workforce to identify and mitigate high-energy hazards is a critical step in improving the safety culture of any company. The partnership between ISN and Hallowell’s Safety Function team helps empower organizations to make this mindset a reality and employees make it home safely at the end of each day.”

Contractor workers can complete the training through the ISNetworld LMS platform or ISN’s mobile app, Empower®. With more than 700 training courses available and 225,000 total courses completed in 2024, the ISNetworld LMS platform supports widespread engagement in workplace safety training across industries.
