58-year-old worker dies after fall from lifting platform

A 58-year-old man has died following a workplace accident in the Duberger Industrial Park in Quebec City.

According to the Quebec City Police Service (SPVQ), emergency services were called to Léon-Harmel Street at approximately 8:35 a.m. on Aug. 29, 2025, after receiving a report of an unconscious man outside a commercial building.

Initial information indicated that the man had fallen from a lifting platform. He was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police confirmed on Sept. 1, 2025, that the man had succumbed to his injuries. Investigators from the SPVQ, along with the Forensic Identification Unit, attended the scene to determine the causes and circumstances of the incident. The coroner’s office is also involved in the investigation.

As the accident occurred in a workplace setting, the Commission des normes, de l’équité, de la santé et de la sécurité du travail (CNESST) has been notified and is participating in the inquiry.

Authorities stated that the accidental theory remains the preferred explanation for the incident.
