Neighboring company has reported the incident
Alberta workplace safety officials are investigating following the fatal fall of a worker east of Edmonton early this week.
In a CBC News report, Imperial Oil said a contractor working on a building on Refinery Row in Strathcona County died from fatal injuries after a fall. The company noted the building is near its Strathcona Refinery operations but is not connected to Imperial’s operations.
"We are greatly saddened by this tragic event and express our deepest sympathy to the individual's family, friends and co-workers," said Keri Scobie, a spokesperson for Imperial Oil.
