Alta Injections Molding placed on 2 years' probation

Explosion of molten plastic seriously injured worker’s face, hands, forearms

Alta Injections Molding has been fined $69,000 inclusive of the 15 per cent victim fine surcharge and placed on two years of corporate probation.

 

A worker at the Airdrie, Alta. company was attempting to unblock hardening plastic from a processing machine when built up pressure resulted in an explosion of molten plastic covering the workers face, hands and forearms. The worker was transported to hospital with serious injuries. The incident occurred Sept. 14, 2015.

 

Alta Injections Molding pled guilty to Section (2)(1)(a)(i) Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act.
