The two Canadian safety companies are combining decades of optical expertise and workplace safety services for customers nationwide
Belco Safety Products, a Canadian provider of prescription and non-prescription safety eyewear, has become part of the Levitt-Safety organization, the companies announced September 29, 2026.
The combination brings Belco's optical services and lens manufacturing expertise together with Levitt-Safety's existing workplace safety products, equipment service, training and technical support, which the Oakville, Ontario based company has provided to Canadian employers since 1935 through 17 locations across the country. The deal is the latest example of consolidation in the Canadian safety sector, following moves such as Novara's acquisition of a Toronto AI sustainability firm earlier this year.
"For more than 50 years, Belco has built its reputation on optical expertise, personal service and trusted relationships with customers and optical professionals," said Lynn Law-Rafikalli, Certified Optician, Belco Safety Products. "Becoming part of Levitt-Safety gives us the opportunity to build on that foundation while connecting customers with broader workplace safety support across Canada."
Heidi Levitt, Co-CEO of Levitt-Safety, said the companies' offerings complement one another. "Belco's prescription safety eyewear expertise, optical services and customer relationships are a strong complement to Levitt-Safety's existing capabilities," she said. "Together, we can provide customers with more complete support while maintaining the expertise and service they value from Belco."
Belco will continue to operate under its own name, with existing contracts, ordering and on-site service continuing without interruption, according to the announcement. The companies said customers will be notified directly and in advance of any changes affecting them as the businesses integrate gradually over time.
As the integration progresses, Belco customers are expected to gain access to Levitt-Safety's broader workplace safety product and service offering, while Levitt-Safety customers will gain expanded access to prescription safety eyewear and optical services. Properly fitted eyewear remains a persistent gap in Canadian workplaces, with PPE compliance still falling short despite solid safety programs according to recent industry research, something consolidated optical and safety providers like this combined company may be positioned to help address. The model echoes how PIP Canada's head-to-toe protection business was built from a merger of two safety suppliers, broadening product range under one roof.
Belco Safety Products has supported corporate customers, optometrists and retailers through licensed-optician expertise and corporate prescription eyewear programs for more than 50 years. The companies said additional information on the integration will be shared as it develops.
