Logging company fined $27,000

Workers without alternate means of escape from mobile equipment

Jordan River Logging has been fined $27,154 by WorkSafeBC.

WorkSafeBC inspected this firm's logging work site in Nanaimo River, B.C. and observed safety deficiencies.

The firm failed to ensure its workers had alternate means of escape from mobile equipment, and that equipment windows were maintained to provide clear vision to the operator.

In addition, the firm failed to provide its workers with the information, instruction, training, and supervision necessary to ensure their health and safety. These were all repeated violations.
