Roofing company fined $70K

Worker lost balance, fell to the ground

Goodmen Hot Roofing from Red Deer, Alta. has been fined $70,000 inclusive of a 15 per cent victim fine surcharge.

 

On July 9, 2015, three workers were throwing roofing material from the top of a commercial roofing project (a school) when a worker was struck in the leg with the material. This caused the worker to lose balance and fall to the ground sustaining multiple injuries.

 

Goodmen Hot Roofing pled guilty to section 2(1)(a)(i) of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
