LYNRED launches an eSWIR sensor

LYNRED has launched Sirocco SW, an extended short-wave infrared (eSWIR) detector designed to bring space-grade spectroscopy to industrial and environmental applications. The sensor, presented at SPIE Photonics West 2026, detects wavelengths from 0.8 to 2.5 microns in 640 × 512 VGA resolution, extending analysis beyond conventional InGaAs SWIR sensors limited to about 1.7 microns.

Based on mercury cadmium telluride (MCT) technology qualified in space programs, Sirocco SW targets mining, agriculture and climate monitoring, enabling mineral identification, soil characterization, greenhouse gas detection and high-temperature industrial process control. It offers frame rates up to 200 frames per second and is available as a focal plane array or packaged detector, with a cryogenic version for New Space applications in development.
