Two separate workplace injuries in less than 24 hours

Ontario’s Ministry of Labour is investigating two separate workplace accidents in the Barrie, Ontario area that took place within a 24-hour time period.

The first one happened in Shelburne Tuesday afternoon. A 50-year-old man was transported to hospital via Orgne air ambulance with critical injuries. 

The ministry says he fell while working on a construction project and the constructor is Fieldgate Homes. 

CTV News reports that according to provincial police the man fell 12 feet into the foundation of an unbuilt home.

The second incident happened Wednesday morning in Innisfil.  CTV News reports South Simcoe police say emergency officials responded to a call for help at construction company. A 40-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

A ministry inspector attended the scene, and it was reported the worker was hurt by “falling material.”

The employer is Res Precast and the ministry issued the company one requirement.

The ministry of labour says both investigations are ongoing.
