Nominations are under way for Canada’s Safest Employers Awards 2021. Don’t miss out – nominate now!

Canada’s Safest Employers Awards are the leading independent awards for the nation’s occupational health and safety profession. Now in its 11th year, the awards recognize the outstanding health and safety professionals and companies for their achievements, leadership and innovation over the past 12 months.

Nominations are open until April 23 and finalists will be announced during the summer. Winners will be revealed live (!) during a virtual ceremony on October 21, 2021.

Though a little different from previous years, last year’s event was no less successful and we’re happy to return to this format this year. Last year’s virtual event drew glowing feedback from attendees, notably our winners and finalists.

“I am truly humbled and profoundly honoured to be a finalist in this year’s Canada’s Safety Leader of the Year award process. Being a leader in the world of safety, regardless of the industry or organization, is unquestionably one of the most difficult leadership roles in business today,” said Robert Palmer, Director of Flight Operations Safety at Air Canada and one of our 2020 finalists.

Steve Wrixon, General Manager of Health and Safety at Cementation Canada, Inc, and another of last year’s finalists said: “I am honoured to be named a finalist for Safety Leader of Year. I share this with the current and past leaders of Cementation. I wouldn’t be here without their guidance and commitment to health and safety.”

Commenting on the virtual ceremony, Phil Verster, CEO and President of Metrolinx said: “It was different [than previous years] clearly because we’re in a COVID world, but it was very enjoyable to see the different categories. I think people take a lot of pleasure from participating. And I think it’s great that despite COVID, [COS] has succeeded in keeping people’s attention focused on something that is important for all of us. It was a great event.”

Verster was last year’s winner of our CEO of the Year award. Find out more about previous winners and nominees, and more information about the day’s agenda here.

If you haven’t already, nominate now before April 23!
