1 worker dead, another injured in concrete wall incident

One worker has died and another was injured in an incident involving a concrete wall in Ontario, according to reports.

The incident occurred at a commercial site along Concession 6 in the area of Chepstow, Bruce County, on Friday.

Ontario Provincial Police, Bruce County Paramedic Services, and Brockton Fire and Emergency Services were called to the scene at around 6 a.m., according to CTV News.

When responders arrived, they found one individual trapped beneath a concrete wall.

A 37-year-old Hanover resident died in the incident. Meanwhile, a 35-year-old Arran-Elderslie resident was hurt and taken to a trauma centre.

South Bruce OPP Constable Matthew Thorpe told The Sun Times that the incident occurred at a commercial site on Concession 6 in Chepstow, and that the injuries sustained by the second worker are not believed to be life-threatening.

The Ontario Ministry of Labour is investigating the incident.
