Ministry of Labour investigating incident
An Ontario construction worker has died after a concrete slab fell on him at a worksite, according to reports.
The incident occurred at a site near Weston Road and Toryork Drive, north of Finch Avenue West in Toronto, on Monday, reported CityNews.
The worker became trapped beneath the slab after it fell on him around 8:30 a.m., the publication noted.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to CBC News.
The victim was in his 50s, CityNews noted, citing paramedics.
The Ontario Ministry of Labour is investigating the incident.
“As the investigation is ongoing, no further details can be shared at this time,” the province said in a statement, according to CBC.
