Worker got stuck after storm hits workplace
One construction worker in Ontario died on the job following an incident caused by bad weather.
The incident happened in King City on July 30, when a construction crew was digging on King Road, between Jane and Keele streets.
A storm passed by the area and rainfall led to one worker becoming stuck in the trench, reported CTV News, citing a statement from York Regional Police (YRP)
“When we arrived there was a worker that had fallen into a ditch of water and was fully submerged,” a YRP spokesperson said, according to a Daily Commercial News report. “He was pulled out, however was pronounced deceased.”
The cause of death is unclear, according to the CTV News report.
The Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development was notified and is investigating the incident.
The ministry has issued three orders and two requirements to the employer, Aecon Utilities Inc, according to Daily Commercial News.
The police have not released the identity of the worker.
