Man facing assault charge after punching construction worker

A 29-year-old man is facing an assault charge after punching one construction worker in Nova Scotia, according to a report.

The incident happened in Halifax on Friday.

Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of public disturbance on the 5800 block of Spring Garden Road around 8:30 p.m.

An unknown man allegedly approached a group of construction workers. The suspect tried to show the workers the sexually inappropriate pictures on a cellphone and then tried to instigate a fight, police said, according to CTV News.

The man allegedly punched one worker and then hit him on the head with the cellphone. The suspect also threw a rock through a pane of glass before fleeing the scene on foot, according to the report.

The assault victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Police arrested the suspect around 8:50 p.m. He is facing charges of assault with a weapon and property damage. He will appear in court at a later date.
