Safety pros can quickly search and extract information from 1300-page handbook

ASSP launches Safety Trekr AI tool

The American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) unveils Safety Trekr AI, a cutting-edge artificial intelligence-powered search tool set to transform how safety professionals access critical workplace safety and health information. Launched on July 1, 2025, the new tool promises to streamline decision-making and enhance compliance, ultimately aiming to reduce workplace injuries, illnesses, and fatalities.

Safety Trekr AI enables users to quickly search and extract information from the 1,330-page “Safety Professionals Handbook, Third Edition.” This key industry reference, authored by over 90 experts, is widely used by professionals and academic institutions for its in-depth research, case studies, and practical applications.

The AI platform scans the entire handbook in real time to deliver precise, actionable safety guidance. “While safety professionals can still choose to review specific sections of the handbook, it’s now possible to get immediate and trusted guidance when time is of the essence,” says ASSP President Linda Tapp, CSP, ALCM, CPTD.

Designed for mobile access, Safety Trekr AI supports professionals in the field, helping them respond promptly to safety challenges. It translates safety content into multiple languages, aiming to remove communication barriers. “It’s truly remarkable how this sophisticated tool leverages natural language processing techniques to comprehend a question and communicate the answer in the user’s native language,” Tapp notes. “When obstacles are removed, work environments everywhere can be improved, fostering a truly global culture of safety.”

Unlike open AI platforms, Safety Trekr AI operates within a closed model. This design ensures that all responses stem solely from the vetted content of the handbook, prioritizing accuracy, credibility, and transparency.

ASSP plans to demonstrate Safety Trekr AI during the Safety 2025 Professional Development Conference and Exposition, set for July 22–24 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. Attendees can explore the tool in the ASSP Marketplace and during a featured Tech Talk on the expo floor.

The tool and handbook are both available via the ASSP Store.
