Lane brings over 25 years of experience in the Newfoundland and Labrador public service
Elizabeth Lane has been named the new Chief Executive Officer of WorkplaceNL, with her appointment set to take effect on October 30, 2025. The announcement was made by the Honourable Pam Parsons, Minister of Labour and Minister Responsible for WorkplaceNL.
Lane brings over 25 years of experience in the Newfoundland and Labrador public service. Since 2021, she has served as Secretary of the Treasury Board and Deputy Minister responsible for the Treasury Board Secretariat. Her previous roles include Assistant Deputy Minister overseeing Collective Bargaining and Human Resource Management within the Human Resources Secretariat and later the Treasury Board Secretariat from 2018 to 2021. Earlier in her career, Lane held senior positions such as Director of Labour Relations with the Newfoundland and Labrador Health Boards Association and Director of Collective Bargaining for the provincial government.
Lane holds a Master of Employment Relations and a Bachelor of Commerce from Memorial University.
WorkplaceNL administers a no-fault, employer-funded workers’ compensation system for approximately 215,000 workers and 17,500 employers in Newfoundland and Labrador. The agency is responsible for promoting safe and healthy workplaces, providing return-to-work programs, and offering compensation to injured workers and their dependents.
In announcing the appointment, Minister Parsons stated, “Elizabeth Lane’s extensive leadership experience and deep understanding of labour relations and public service make her an ideal choice to lead WorkplaceNL. Her commitment to collaboration and innovation will be instrumental in advancing our shared goals of workplace safety, injury prevention, and support for injured workers across the province.”
