Young worker in critical condition after workplace accident

A 19-year-old worker is in critical condition after a work accident in Beauharnois, QC, reports the Canadian Press. The accident occurred Monday afternoon.

According to the report, the worker was trapped under heavy machinery in the outdoor yard of a company located on Hauts-Fourneaux Road near Highway 30.

Emergency services were called to the scene, and first responders had to resuscitate the man, according to a spokesperson for the Coopérative des techniciens ambulanciers de la Montérégie.

The worker was then transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The cause of the accident has yet to be determined.

Last week, a building site floor collapsed on Tuesday in Moncton, N.B., leaving several workers injured – though their injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Also last week, a worker was killed after getting trapped under a garage door at a Caledon workplace in Ontario. The incident happened on Friday at a commercial property in the area of Airport Road and King Street.
