Two health and safety scholarships up for grabs

The Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS) is now accepting applications for the 2023 Dick Martin Scholarship Award.

Under the program, two $3,000 scholarships will be awarded to one university student and one college student pursuing their education in a field related to occupational health and safety. The winners will also earn their schools a $500 award.

Any student enrolled in either a full-time or part-time course or program leading to an occupational health and safety certificate, diploma or degree at an accredited college or university in Canada is eligible to apply. Programs include mine safety, occupational or industrial health and safety, industrial hygiene, safety management or other related safety degree programs.

Applications will be accepted until 11:59 p.m. EST, Jan. 31, 2023.

Winners of the Dick Martin Scholarship Award will be announced in April 2023.

The CCOHS Council of Governors established this scholarship fund in 2002 in the memory of Dick Martin, a health and safety advocate and a pioneer of workplace health and safety in Canada.

“Occupational Health and Safety is a rewarding career in which you will be responsible for protecting workers by ensuring safe and healthy workplaces,” according to the Anderson College of Health, Business and Technology.
